Back:
During the Civil War I served over three years, enlisting in 1862 as a private in Co. B, 104th O.V.I. from which I was discharged on account of wounds and soon thereafter reenlisted in the 12th O.V. Cavalry, participating in thirty engagements, in eight of which I was wounded, receiving the last April 6th 1865, three days before the surrender of Gen. Lee's Army. A gunshot wound in the elbow-joint from which I am permanently crippled.
Was captured by the enemy in 1864 and sent to Libby Prison where I was held for about four months suffering all the miseries of that infamous institution, weighing 154 pounds when I entered and 72 pounds when exchanged.
Following the war November 26th, 1877, i was commissioned by Governor Thomas L. Young, First Lieutenant and on June 10th 1880 I was promoted and Commissioned by Governor Charles Foster, Captain of Company "D" 2nd Regiment O.N.G. for five years. In view of long continued and uncompensated services I feel that I am warranted in asking for the recognition of the Electors of Canton township.
Thanking you in advance for your friendly assistance, I remain,
Yours truly,
W.H. Little
P.S. There are Two candidates by the name LITTLE, if you desire to vote for a G.A.R. Veteran be sure and mark your ballot in front of W.H. Little
