Declaration - Invalid Pension

Military Service Act of July 14, 1862
The State of Ohio
County of Columbiana

On this 27th day of April AD One thousand eight hundred and sixty-six personally appeared before me, Clerk of the Common Please Court, within and for the county and state above named, William Little, aged 21 years, a resident of the town of Damascus in the county of Columbiana and the State of Ohio, who duly sworn according to law, declares that he is the identical William Little who enlisted in the service of the United States at Salem in the State of Ohio on or about the 29th day of August in the year 1863 as a Private in Company B Regiment of Ohio Vol. Cav. in the war of 1861 and was honorably discharged on the 29th day of August, in the year 1865.

That at the time of discharge from said service he was a Private in company B in said 12th Regiment of Ohio Vol. Cav; that while in the service aforesaid, and in the line of duty, at or near a place called Camp Chase, in the State of Ohio on the 29th day of May AD 1865 he:

(was accidentally shot by one of the Guards belonging to 88th Ohio OVI. The said applicant being a parolled prisoner. The ball entering the right arm at the elbow shattering both bones and passing hence through to the right sille (?) arm. Lodging in the back bone. The arm receiving such an injury as to permanently disable it.

That since leaving the service of the United States, he has resided in the town of Damascus, in the County of Columbiana, and the State of Ohio and has followed no occupation.

His Post Office address is Damascusville, Columbiana County, Ohio.

He makes this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the Invalid Pension Roll of the United States by reason of the disability hereinbefore described; and hereby constitutes and appoints Cal. Royal Taylor, Columbus Ohio his Attorney to prosecute his claim and procure a certificate with full power and authority to do and perform all and every lawful act and thing whatsoever, necessary and requisite to be done, in and about the premises.

Sworn to, subscribed and acknowledged, before me the day and year first above written; also, at the same time and place, personally appeared George E. Burns a resident of the town of new Lisbon, County of Columbiana, and State of Ohio and Joseph M Ward a resident of the town of New Lisbon, County of Columbiana, and State of Ohio persons whom I certify to be of lawful age, respectable, and entitled to credit, and who being by me duly sworn say that they were present and saw William Little sign his name (or make his mark), to the foregoing declaration; and they further swear that they have every reason to believe, from the appearance of the applicant, and their acquaintance with him, that he is the identical person he represents himself to be; that since leaving the service aforesaid, his habits have been good and he has followed no occupation on account of wound and they further state they have no interest in the prosecution of his claim.

of Company "B" 12 Regiment Ohio Cav. Vol.

Doct Fawcett Reports April 27/66 GSW through the right elbow joint fracturing the bones, leaving it stiff + uselss, six or seven pieces of bone have come out of opening + pus is still discharging most of the time. hand + arm are perfectly powerless.
